I LOVE lip stains, because I love bright vibrant colour but seriously, who has the time (or inclination) to re-apply every time you take a sip of water or eat anything? Lip stains have come a long way in recent times, and I for one am overjoyed. Lip stains used to be very drying and not overly pleasant to wear, but not anymore! Here are my picks of the best:
Stila After Glow
Not only are these an amazing, vibrant range of colours, but it also GLOWS under UV light. Yes, it glows! Yes, it’s gimmicky, but who doesn’t love a gimmick?
The colours available are: Electric Pink, Festival Fuchsia, Party Pink, Rave Red, Tangerine Dream and Vivid Violent.
My favourite colour: Rave Red. It’s bright and bold and my idea of a perfect red. It’s rich and glossy when first applied, the gloss does wear off after a while but the stain is still lovely.
This is an oldie but a goodie. The colour is very soft, so it does take a few applications to develop a deeper colour if that’s what you’re after. Personally, I like to use a lip balm with this product as I do find it slightly drying, but everyone is different. It has an added bonus of being a cheek stain as well. I love the cute bottle, it looks like a nail varnish bottle, brush and all.
Revlon Just Bitten Kissable
Revlon seem to be doing great things at the moment. They’re a brand that are readily available and not overly expensive which to a make-up junkie like myself is a great plus.
These lip stains have a great formula, they feel lovely and balmy when first applied and definitely don’t dry out lips. There is a great colour selection as well, so you can pick one for every outfit.
Colours available are: Honey, Darling, Cherish, Lovesick, Charm, Sweetheart, Smitten, Romantic, Adorn & Precious.
My favourite colour: Smitten, which is a lovely bright pink which suits a wide variety of skin tones.
Wow, what a choice of colours! Nars always goes the extra mile when it comes to great colours and products and this pencil is no different. Described as dual purpose lip liner crayon that creates a long lasting lip stain and line, it certainly feels like it does the business. A huge colour range means that there is a colour for everybody, from toned-down neutrals to rich vibrant reds. The matte colour just seems to last forever – no re-application needed with these beauties!
Colours available are: Belle De Jour, Bettina, Bolero, Calliope, Cruella, Damned, Dolce Vita, Dragon Girl, Never Say Never, Pop Life, Red Square, Roman Holiday, Sex Machine, Toundra, Train Bleu and Walkyrie. Phew, I told you there were a lot!
My favourite? Bolero, a lovely soft pink with a hint of coral that will complement most skin types.
